Seoul Winter Trip - Day5

Fifth Day of our trip in Seoul!
Visited Gwangjang Market, Ihwa Mural Village, Namsan Seoul Tower, Myeongdong.
The moment when we found a full length mirror and the train was yet to come, so.....
The Cheonggyecheon stream.

Had our breakfast in Gwangjang Market (광장시장), which is also very well-known as one of the oldest and largest traditional markets in South Korea.
Why is it a must to visit this market?
Well, there are tons of traditional foods to be had, and to be bought!
and its better to come on weekday mornings.
There are food stalls along the streets in market, divided into sections and arranged according to the food they sell such as seafood, fried food (pancakes..), steamed food (dumplings..), and etc.
So, what did we have?
Well, its very well-know for the Bindaetteok (Mung Bean Pancake) here.
We’ve tried it, and yes we gotta admit, its good.
And we also had kimbap, tteokbokki, chicken feet, clear soup noodles served with soy sauce and wasabi, some tofu, and some fried jeons.
Most stalls are ran by ajummas, so gotta be precise to tell them what you wanna have,
else they will just put every food on your table and its gonna cost you a lot.
we didn't try out the pork intestines and other pork look a like thingy.
and nope, we were too full for seafood too.
Forgot the name of this beverage, it tasted like Barley we have in here, and it was good.
There are also lots of vendors selling other household stuff like clothing, handicrafts, kitchenware, souvenirs, and Korean traditional medicinal items. Based on our knowledge, Gwangjang Market is famous for its traditional food so for eaters like us, we didn’t really have the interest to check on the other part of the market, sorry.
Subway station in Jongno has shops selling a variety of Hanbok.

Headed to Ihwa Mural Village next.
Another great sight-seeing spot in a lovely neighborhood.
The Hyewha station is actually surrounded by lots of art-related cafes, galleries, museums, small theaters and its very happening around here.
There are schools nearby, so we actually saw lots of student activities going on around here.
A very colorful town, isn't it?

Ihwa Mural Village.
[Info from visitkorea.or.kr] The local Public Art Committee carried out the Naksan Project in 2006 to improve the local environment of Ihwa Village. Approximately 60 artists painted walls and installed artworks for the project. Visitors to the village can enjoy looking for and viewing the beautiful murals and sculptures in the village.
The view from the village.
I don't know about you, but I have a thing for trees. *kidding
Bumped into these cute puppies.
An illustration for puppy's love?
There are painted walls in almost every corner of this village, surprisingly.
I guess the painting on steps was the special ones.
I like the Koi Steps.
This place is not only filled with arts & paintings but also unique cafes.
I'm not denying this, but I do wish to own a cafe in place like this in the future.

Came across to a postcard store, a very unique one,
where they provide postcard sending service with a surcharge of only 1.5k won.
Love the store's interior.
Hello, Big Fat Cat!

And we spent nearly an hour here, cannot blame the cozy environment.
My friends, Stefanie and Michelle were decorating the postcards for their lovers. :P

And then we continued our adventure in the village.
I guess that was a really popular wall mural and I spent some time queuing up for that picture.
Worth the wait to prove that I'm actually the guardian angel.
There are different alleys with different kind of mural paintings.
But just to make sure you don't get lost here.
Yee Hui, was trying her best to lick the thumbs up painting.
(I smell failure).
One of the unique cafes I've mentioned above.
Here are some group photos we've taken in Ihwa, I combined in one so you don't spend effort scrolling down all of them.
Oh yeah, a friendly tip, try the beverages in Blackline Coffee
I tried the milktea, and I liked it!

Next destination was MyeongDong and Namsam Seoul Tower.
Took the subway to MyeongDong station and then took a shuttle bus at the station right outside the subway exit to Namsam Seoul Tower.
The weather was freezing that day
and we were like at the peak of the land,
so winter wind nearly blew us off
Wear extra.

Took the bus back to MyeongDong, and had our dinner at James’s Grilled Pork Ribs with Cheese.
This is like the latest trend for all the good food eaters in Seoul.
So worth a shot.
You can actually to select the spicy level (1.mild 2.spicy and 3.very spicy).
I cannot really take spicy food, so we went with the second level.
Thank god, there was cheese to tone down the fire in my mouth. Hehe.
(They have branches in Hongdae too).

Spent the rest of our evening shopping.
Not much photos were taken cos we've spent all the time we had on a Shopping Spree!
Don't worry, I have links below. (Shopping guide in Myeongdong).
